Ch..ch...ch...changes...

Amazing. Just amazing. For the past few days, say, since Tuesday or Wednesday (August 2nd), Meyer has started to grab at things. At first it was very tentative and, well, if you weren't around him all the time like us it would look more like he decided to pick up his arm and it accidentally landed on some toy. But no, we knew something was different. It was later confirmed when Wednesday night, at one of Drew and Meyer's late night feedings, when Meyer grabbed his almost empty bottle from Drew and held it himself. Things developed from there - with Meyer beginning to reach for faces, cereal, holding and playing with rattles and rings. Wowza!!!

However, my favorite moment came today as we were coming into Fort Collins from the highway. Meyer had woken up which usually means that he starts screaming but instead I started to hear crinkling. I looked back and he was really, really into the dangly toy we had hooked onto his car seat. He was playing with the crinkly bits and holding the rings. I was totally blown away. You wait for all these months for him to start actively grabbing and playing with things (something they should do my 4 months which Meyer is almost upon) and then one day, bam!, for whatever reason, they decide to reach out and touch something and they become just a little bit more "child" rather than "infant."

And then!!!! This is so freakin' unbelievably amazing!!!! As I was writing this very blog entry I had put Meyer on his activity gym so he could bat at the toys. I looked away to start typing and I looked back and he was on his stomach! He had rolled over completely (he's just been making it to his side until then)! And then he rolled over on his stomach. And then he rolled over onto his back and back onto his stomach! Holy changes Batman...my little boy is a turner-over (not to be confused with a turn over.)

Stay tuned. At this rate he will be walking in 72 hours. ;-)
