Enchilada Salad?

Timeline so far:

Monday, August 1st - Hmmmm....didn't get my period. I thought I was just late.

Sunday, August 14th - First pregnancy test came back positive! I proceeded to take five more over the next few days! The tests seemed inconclusive - the positive line was always really strong but the other line was always sort of hazy.

Tuesday, August 16th - I decided that I was probably pregnant and got the name of Mari's doctor and set up an appointment for Monday. Weirdest thing ever....the lady on the phone asked, "Why are you coming in to see us?" and I responded, "I think I'm pregnant." Crazy!

Wednesday, August 17th - I decided to read the instructions on the home pregnancy tests. What do you know? They actually are USEFUL! They say that as long as the plus is there, no matter how hazy, it's positive. I'm shocked and I have to run to meet Drew at Old Chicago's in Aurora where he is playing trivia with Marcus, Shelly and Anthony.

I arrive, I'm shaking, I call my Mom. She's cautiously happy. I still don't think I can tell Drew. Marcus orders some weird blue beer, I'm not drinking and it looks weird. Finally, I pull Drew out of the restaurant and break the news. He's shocked, he paces but finally, he looks at me and says, "But you know, I'm really happy."

Thursday, August 18th - At my urging Drew talks to his Dad, his Dad is happy for us and gives Drew lots of good advice about becoming a Daddy!

Friday, August 20th - Tom, Maureen, Sara, Dan, Drew and I all meet in LA for Liisa and Rik's wedding in Santa Barbara. Questions start coming at me about going back to school...I can't really answer them. I'm also, for the first time in years, off caffeine, so I'm a little irritable.

Saturday, August 21st - After a long day of family and sailing Drew, Sara, Dan and I are chillaxin' in the hotel room. We tell Dan, then Sara (who already sort of knew, women's intuition you know). The next two hours are taken up by Dan and Drew drinking Bushmill's while the three Jackson siblings come up with the most outrageous and interesting names possible. One of my favorites was Sara's addition, 'Enchilada Salad Jackson Power,' hence the title of this blog.

Monday, August 23rd - My first doctor's appointment. I was so nervous. Dr. Johnson was very nice and reassuring, so I felt at ease. After the yucky stuff it was time for the first ultrasound. They were expecting to see a heartbeat as they thought, according to my cycle, I was 7-8 weeks along. However, all there was was a perfect little yolk sac and they pinned me down at 5 weeks 1 day. Dr. Johnson wasn't too concerned but scheduled another ultrasound for me in two weeks on September 6th!

Drew and I go over to his Mom's house for dinner. I'm making garlic bread in the kitchen while she is chopping tomatos. Drew drops the bomb. Nancy was absolutely happy, wonderful and supportive. Wedding talk began and I realized at that moment what a wonderfully large and warm support system we would have for the baby.

Tuesday, August 24th - I call my Sister and Dad to ask them if they would be available the next weekend for a visit. But, they quickly crack me and I tell both of them. Both are in shock, and understandably so, but my Sister is supportive and offers any help. My Dad also delivers good fatherly advice about how much this will change our lives.
